Home Care Careers

CASE MANAGERS-RN

The RN Case Manager works with a team of health care professionals to implement and coordinate all physician-ordered client home care services provided through the agency. Working with the client, family and physician, the Case Manager develops a plan of care that meets professional nursing or medical standards and complies with state and federal regulations. Typically, the Case Manager working full-time will supervise care for clients who may live in a number of settings including their own home, group home, or assisted living facility.

Qualifications:

Our Case Managers are graduates of accredited schools of nursing and must be licensed in the state in which they work as a registered nurse. Our Case Managers must have a minimum of one year of nursing experience, preferably in home health care or public health services. The nurse should demonstrate good oral and written communication skills, be well organized, and have the ability to prioritize job demands.

CLINICAL TRAINER

Our Clinical Trainer works in the community to provide training to corporations, health care agencies, or special interest groups. Seminars include CPR, First Aid, Medication Administration, and other requested programs.

Qualifications:

Trainers must have extensive medical/training experience. Instructors in CPR, First Aid, and Medication Administration are certified or licensed in the state in which they teach.

HOME HEALTH AIDE

Our Home Health Aides follow an individualized plan of care to deliver medically necessary home care services to our clients under the supervision of the Case Manager. Typical services include helping clients with the activities of daily living, such as skin care, personal hygiene, lifting, turning, and positioning, assisting with self-administration of medications, bowel and bladder care, and food and dietary activities. As a home health aide, you will work with all age groups in a variety of settings that may include the client's home, assisted living facility, school, or day care facility. This is an hourly position scheduled with the client's needs in mind.

Qualifications:

Our Home Health Aides must be at least 18 years of age (or if 16-18 years old, you must have participated in a related school-based job-training program or completed a certified home health aide competency evaluation). All home health aides must pass a competency test that meets Medicare guidelines and agency policies for home health aides.

This job requires a caring and compassionate person who has the maturity to assume the responsibilities that this position demands. A genuine concern for the sick or otherwise disabled, the ability to follow written as well as oral directions, and excellent oral and written communication skills are needed.

HOMEMAKER

Our homemaker services are designed to help our clients live independently in their own homes. As a homemaker, you will play an integral role in providing that support. The Homemaker follows an individualized plan of care to deliver simple household tasks. These chores may include laundry, light housekeeping such as vacuuming and dusting as well as meal preparation and clean up. Our homemakers work on an hourly basis with a flexible schedule.

Qualifications:

Our homemakers are high school graduates or possess GED certificates. Homemakers must successfully complete a training program that follows our policies and procedures.

LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE

Our LPN plays an essential role in the nursing care we provide and is a natural addition to the client's existing support system of friends, neighbors, and family. Nursing care is typically provided at home but can be delivered wherever it is most convenient for the patient including work, school, or other settings. As a Licensed Practical Nurse you will work closely with our Case Managers and Nursing Supervisor (following the individual's plan of care) to provide skilled services to clients of all ages. The nurse assesses and monitors the client's condition and reports significant changes in the client's medical condition. Assisting clients and their families with daily cares and providing technical support by monitoring the use and effectiveness of medical equipment is an important aspect of the job.

Qualifications:

Our Licensed Practical Nurses are graduates of accredited schools of nursing and are licensed by the state in which they work. One year of nursing experience in home health care or public health services is preferred. The nurse must be physically capable of delivering client cares and must possess good oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST

The Occupational Therapist works with the Nurse Case Manager and Director of Nursing or Operations Manager to assess the client's needs and to develop a care plan that includes a therapy program tailored to the individual client. The OT trains and evaluates the aides to make sure that therapies meet professional standards and supervises and modifies the program as the client's condition changes.

Qualifications:

Our Occupational Therapists are graduates of accredited schools of occupational therapy and are licensed in the state in which they work. They must have a minimum of one year of previous experience as an occupational therapist, preferably in home health care. The individual must be physically capable of meeting the demands of the position and must have good oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, as well as demonstrate excellent organizational and time management skills.

PERSONAL CARE ATTENDANT/PERSONAL CARE WORKER

The Personal Care Attendant/Home Care Aide/Personal Care Worker provides hours of daily assistance to people in their home, school, workplace, or other community settings. These patients may have a mental and/or physical disability and range in age from infants to adults. The personal care worker helps with various daily living activities including assisting with and teaching new techniques for personal grooming, planning and making meals, verbal reminders for daily routines, supervision, and socializing with family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers. Our personal care attendant works under the supervision of a registered nurse.

Qualifications:

Our personal care workers must be at least 18 years of age (or if 16-18 years old, you must have participated in a related school-based job-training program or completed a certified home health aide competency evaluation).

PHYSICAL THERAPIST

As a Physical Therapist for REM Health, you will work with a variety of clients developing and implementing an individualized plan of care. Through frequent contact with the R.N. Case Manager and the Director of Nursing or Operations Manager, you will ensure that all care is coordinated and that home health aides are oriented, trained, and supervised so that therapies are delivered appropriately. You will modify the plan of care as the client's condition changes.

Qualifications:

Our Physical Therapists are graduates of accredited schools of physical therapy and are licensed in the state in which they work. The physical therapist has a minimum of one year of experience as a physical therapist, preferably in home health care. You must be capable of performing the physical demands of the position, have good oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, as well as demonstrate good organizational and time management skills.

PRIVATE DUTY NURSE-RN/LPN

The Private Duty Nurse works with medically fragile clients of all ages, many of whom require 24-hour nursing care. Some of these clients use advanced medical equipment to sustain their quality of life or assist in the recovery process. As a private duty nurse, you will work with the Case Manager to implement a plan of care designed for that individual and use your professional skills and judgment to assess and monitor the client's progress. You will work closely with the client and family providing in-home support and instruction on how to help the client reach their maximum potential. Accurate, complete documentation and reporting of the client's medical status is an important aspect of this position. This is a challenging and rewarding position where you can make full use of your knowledge and abilities.

Qualifications:

Our nurses are graduates of accredited schools of nursing and are licensed in the state in which they work as a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse. One year of nursing experience in home health care or public health services is preferred. The RN/LPN must be physically capable of delivering client cares and should possess good oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.

REGISTERED NURSE

Our Registered Nurses work in administrative positions as well as in the field as Case Managers, Private Duty Nurses, Nurse Consultants, and Clinical Trainers. As a registered nurse you will have the opportunity to work with clients with diverse needs whose ages range from infants to seniors. For a more detailed description, refer to the specific job title (i.e. Case Manager, Private Duty Nurse, Nurse Consultant, Clinical Trainer).

Qualifications:

Our registered nurses are graduates of accredited schools of nursing and must be licensed in the state in which they work. Registered nurses must have a minimum of one year of nursing experience, preferably in home health care or public health services. The nurse must demonstrate good oral and written communication skills, be well organized, and have the ability to prioritize job demands.

RESPIRATORY CARE PRACTITIONER/RESPIRATORY THERAPIST

As a respiratory care practitioner/respiratory therapist in the home care field, you will work primarily with children and their families and with the senior population. Your knowledge and expertise will be applied to teach important skills to clients whose respiratory systems are severely compromised. Working with the physician and case manager to assess and develop a specialized plan of care, you will help each patient reach his optimum potential. Providing support to clients dealing with asthma, cystic fibrosis, emphysema, COPD, and neuromuscular diseases is an important aspect of this position.

Qualifications:

Respiratory Care Practitioners/Respiratory Therapists are graduates of accredited schools of respiratory therapy and licensed in the state where they work. A minimum of one-year experience in respiratory therapy, preferably in home health care, is required. The individual must be capable of performing the physical demands of the position and possess good oral, written and interpersonal communication skills as well as demonstrate good organizational and time management skills.

SPEECH THERAPIST

Our speech therapists work closely with our clients in the home environment, many times providing rehabilitative therapy after stroke or surgery. The Speech Therapist works with the case manager and physician to develop and implement an individual plan of care for each client.

Qualifications:

Our Speech Therapists are graduates of accredited schools of speech therapy and are licensed in the state where they work. A minimum of one year of experience as a speech therapist, preferably in home health care is required. The individual should possess good oral, written and interpersonal communication skills as well as good organizational and time management skills.

Administrative Careers

ACCOUNTING AND INFORMATION SERVICES MANAGER

The Accounting and Information Services Manager is responsible for overseeing the processes for accounts receivable and interfacing with corporate staff to transfer data. Maintenance of the computer software systems and developing information systems to manage business operations is a major aspect of this position.

Qualifications:

The Accounting and Information Services Manager must hold a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or other business related field with a two-year degree in computers (or comparable work skills with computer systems). We also require previous experience in health service administration and two years' supervisory experience.

DIRECTOR OF NURSING

The Director of Nursing ensures that the agency meets all applicable state and federal regulations. Administrative functions include clinical practices, supervision of clinical and staffing personnel, and resource management. Our Director of Nursing works under the direction of the State Director/Administrator to insure effective and efficient operations.

Qualifications:

Our Director of Nursing is a registered nurse or an individual with training and experience in health service administration with at least one year of supervisory or administrative experience in home health care or related health programs. A bachelor's degree in nursing is preferred or extensive industry experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree. The individual should possess good oral, written and interpersonal communication skills as well as good organizational and time management skills.

DIRECTOR OF NURSING BRANCH MANAGER

The Director of Nursing Branch Manager oversees the operation of the branch office guaranteeing that the agency meets all applicable state and federal regulations. Administrative functions include clinical practices, supervision of branch personnel, and resource management. Our Director of Nursing Branch Manager works under the direction of the State Director/Administrator to insure effective and efficient operations.

Qualifications:

Our DON Branch Manager is a registered nurse or an individual with training and experience in health service administration with at least one year of supervisory or administrative experience in home health care or related health programs. A bachelor's degree in nursing is preferred or extensive industry experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree. The individual should possess good oral, written and interpersonal communication skills as well as good organizational and time management skills.

DIRECTOR OF NURSE CONSULTING

DIRECTOR OF PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT

Our Director of Program Development works in the community to promote REM Health and its services. The focus of the job is fostering good will,name recognition, and adding new referral sources. Developing and implementing new plans to attract and retain quality employees are additional job responsibilities. A "team player" approach to solving problems and innovative marketing strategies are important in this job.

Qualifications:

The Director of Program Development must have a Bachelor of Arts or Science degree in marketing, social work, home economics or a related field, a registered nurse, or a licensed practical nurse. Other experience in health care or related fields and an understanding of the home care market may be substituted for educational requirements. The individual should possess good oral, written and interpersonal communication skills as well as good organizational and time management skills. The Director of Program Development travels throughout the community and must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGER

The Human Resource Manager is responsible for the operation of all aspects of Human Resource functions. Human Resource responsibilities include recruiting, hiring, and orienting the agency's unlicensed personnel, managing employee benefits, and maintaining employee records. Accurate, complete, and confidential maintenance of employee records that comply with state and federal employment regulations and the generation of employment reports and statistics are important functions of this position. The Human Resource manager serves as a resource for the agency and its employees in the resolution of employee issues.

Qualifications:

Our Human Resource Manager must have a two-year degree in human resource management (or a related field) with at least one year of previous experience as a HR generalist or extensive management and supervisory experience in a related field. A four-year degree with previous experience in home health care is preferred. Excellent written and oral communications skills as well as strong interpersonal and organizational skills are essential. Experience in word processing and database software is desired. Extensive experience may substitute for educational requirements.

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

The Executive Director oversees the management and operating systems for all REM Health branches, provides leadership, and identifies company goals ensuring that all procedures are uniform, effective, and efficient. The Executive Director develops and manages the budget, assures that all branches meet state, local, and federal regulations, and provides guidance in program development for all sites. Encouraging a team approach to developing agency policies and procedures is important.

Qualifications:

The Executive Director must be a licensed physician, registered nurse, or an individual with training and experience in health service administration with at least two years of supervisory or administrative experience in home health care or related health program. The National Director must hold a bachelor degree in a field related to health care or business with a master's degree preferred in business administration or public health. Extensive industry experience may be submitted for an advanced degree.

OPERATIONS MANAGER

The Operations Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating clinical processes and systems. This includes assuring that clinical services meet all governmental regulations. Administrative functions include clinical practices and supervision of clinical and staffing personnel. Marketing plays an important role in this position since the Operations Manager is responsible for program development within the community and the promotion of services to other organizations. The Operations Manager reports to the State Director/Administrator.

Qualifications:

Our Operations Manager must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and licensed as a registered nurse with two years of professional nursing experience. An Associate's Degree in Business, Marketing, or Finance is required with a Bachelor's Degree preferred. The Operations Manager must have a diversified clinical background with at least two years supervisory and/or administrative experience in a medical setting, preferably home health care or public health services.

PAYROLL MANAGER

The Payroll Manager is responsible for the operation of all aspects of the payroll functions. Payroll responsibilities consist of all payroll processes including timecard entry, deductions, tax reporting, and check generation, as well as maintaining wage tables and payroll database information. Responding to inquiries concerning reimbursement issues and offering guidance to all branch offices in data entry training and payroll policy changes as well as working with the staff to problem solve payroll matters are important functions of this job. Accurate, complete, and confidential maintenance of employee records that comply with state and federal employment regulations and generation of employment reports and statistics are important functions of this position.

Qualifications:

Our Payroll Manager must have a two-year degree in a business-related field and/or at least one year of previous supervisory experience. The Payroll Manager must be a highly organized individual with a knowledge of payroll, wage, and labor guidelines, and possess strong oral as well as interpersonal communication skills. Experience in word processing and databased software is desired. Extensive experience may substitute for educational requirements.

STATE DIRECTOR/ADMINISTRATOR

The State Director/Administrator oversees the operation of all offices within the state including compliance with local, state and federal regulations, human resource management, financial management, contract development, promotion of services and policy and procedure development and implementation. Encouraging a team approach to developing agency policies and procedures is important in this position.

Qualifications:

The State Director/Administrator must be a licensed physician, registered nurse, or an individual with training and experience in health service administration with at least two years of supervisory or administrative experience in home health care or related health program. In addition, a bachelor's degree in a field related to health care or business with a master's degree in business administration or public health is preferred. Extensive industry experience may be submitted for an advanced degree.

Administrative Support Careers

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

Our Administrative Assistant provides support to our management staff to assure effective delivery of services. Primary job responsibilities include record maintenance, design and development of promotional literature, correspondence, newsletters, and distribution of information among all offices. As an Administrative Assistant you will have the opportunity to work with all departments within the agency, its branches, and with many REM affiliates.

Qualifications:

The Administrative Assistant must hold a high school diploma or equivalent with experience in secretarial work or a related area. A working knowledge of office software packages is required. The individual should possess good oral, written and interpersonal communication skills as well as good organizational and time management skills.

BILLING CLERK

Our Billing Clerk works under the supervision of the Billing Supervisor to generate invoices for services delivered and to credit accounts when payments are made. This job requires accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to problem-solve. As a billing clerk, you interface with our professional staff and have frequent contact with a variety of insurance carriers.

Qualifications:

We require a high school diploma (or equivalent) with a two-year degree in accounting, general business or a related discipline, preferred. Previous experience in accounting, general business, or office administration may be substituted for educational requirements. Individuals must possess effective communication skills with persons at all levels of the organization and must possess strong time management capabilities.

BILLING SUPERVISOR

Our Billing Supervisor works closely with the clinical staff and payroll department to guarantee that all services are billed appropriately and are reimbursed in a timely manner. The Billing Supervisor provides supervisory support to the billing department staff and oversees all aspects of the billing cycle for every payer source. Maintaining accurate records and generating reports to successfully manage the A/R are important functions of this job.

Qualifications:

We require a high school diploma (or equivalent) with a two-year degree in accounting, general business or a related discipline, preferred. Previous experience in accounting, general business, or office administration may be substituted for educational requirements. Individual must possess effective communication skills with persons at all levels of the organization and must possess strong time management capabilities. The Billing Supervisor must have a work background that includes supervisory experience.

HOMEMAKER SUPERVISOR

Our Homemaker Supervisor assesses the client's home environment to develop a service plan and schedule. The Homemaker Supervisor provides direct supervision of the homemakers and assures that our services meet all county and state regulations. Responsibilities include hiring, training, and maintaining adequate staff, and consistent, respectful communication of concerns and expectations between client and staff.

Qualifications:

The Homemaker Supervisor must have a Bachelor of Arts or Science degree in social work, home economics or a related field, registered nurse, or a licensed practical nurse. Extensive experience in home care may substitute for education and nursing licensing requirements. A minimum of six month's experience in home care is preferred. Good written and oral communication skills, organizational talent, and the ability to prioritize job demands are required.

HUMAN RESOURCE COORDINATOR

The Human Resource Coordinator works in the branch office to recruit, hire, and orient unlicensed personnel, manage employee benefits, and process payroll. The Human Resource Coordinator is also responsible for addressing employment issues in the branch office. The Human Resource Coordinator works with the Service Coordiator to assure adequate staff to meet the clients' needs.

Qualifications:

The Human Resource Coordinator must have a two-year degree in human resource management or a related discipline with at least one year of experience as a staff recruiter or scheduler in home health care preferred. Extensive experience may substitute for educational requirements. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills as well as written and oral communication proficiency is required.

MEDICAL RECORDS SPECIALIST

Our Medical Records Specialist works under the direction of the Director of Nursing or Operations Manager and is responsible for the set-up and maintenance of our client files. Working with the clinical personnel, the Medical Records Specialist monitors client files to make sure that records are filed appropriately and that they meet the standards established by state and federal regulations. The Medical Records Specialist maintains adequate clinical record adequate inventories.

Qualifications:

The Medical Records Specialist position requires a detailed individual knowledgeable in established record maintenance procedures. A high school diploma that includes business-related courses is required. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential to successful job performance. The Medical Records Specialist must be able to stand and bend for extended periods of time.

OFFICE COORDINATOR

Our Office Coordinator provides support to the many departments within the agency by assuring that all departments have the supplies and equipment they need. Duties include ordering and maintaining office supplies, phone system management, office security, and accounts payable. Clear and professional communication as well as a team approach in dealing with others is important in this position.

Qualifications:

The Office Coordinator must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Computer experience is desired but not necessary. The Office Coordinator must be well organized and flexible.

PAYROLL ASSISTANT

The Payroll Assistant interfaces daily with our employees and the billing department. The primary responsibility is to accurately process employee timecards on time. Strong customer skills are important because the volume of employee phone calls is considerable. The Payroll Assistant works under the direction of the Payroll Manager.

Qualifications:

The Payroll Assistant must have a high school diploma or equivalent with a one-year degree in accounting, general business or a related discipline preferred. Good interpersonal communication skills, attention to detail, and strong time management skills are required.

RECEPTIONIST

Our receptionist is the first contact whenever people call or visit the agency. Our receptionist greets visitors and routes all incoming phone calls to the appropriate person in addition to processing incoming and outgoing mail and duplicating forms.

Qualifications:

The receptionist must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Experience as a receptionist and computer knowledge is desired but not required. Clear and professional communication as well as a team approach in dealing with others is an important aspect of this position.

SERVICE COORDINATOR

With direction from the Service Coordinator Supervisor, the Service Coordinator schedules home care services delivered by our field staff. Staffing caregivers includes frequent contact with the client, direct care staff, and Case Manager. Working with the Service Coordinator Supervisor and the Payroll Manager to ensure that adequate staff is available to fill clients' needs and accurate record maintenance is an important function.

Qualifications:

Our Service Coordinator must have a high school diploma with a two-year degree in human resources management or a related discipline. One year of experience as a home health services service coordinator or scheduler (or similar experience in a related field) is required. Knowledge of software applications including word processing and database management functions is desired. Extensive work experience may substitute for educational requirements. The Service Coordinator should be well organized and demonstrate proficiency in written and oral communications.

SERVICE COORDINATOR SUPERVISOR

The Service Coordinator Supervisor works under the direction of the Director of Nursing or Operations Manager to guide the Service Coordinators in arranging for home care services for our clients. The Service Coordinator Supervisor is responsible for training new service personnel and for serving as an information services liaison for the scheduling system.

Qualifications:

Our Service Coordinator Supervisor must have a high school diploma. A two-year degree in human resources management and experience in home health care recruiting is desirable. Knowledge of software applications and previous computer experience is helpful, but we will provide training if needed. Strong interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills are essential in successfully filling this position. There is a high volume of telephone contact that requires a supportive and pleasant telephone manner.
